Sin.
It’s a word we don’t like to talk about, but it’s a reality every one of us must face. Today, we’re diving deep into what sin actually is, why it matters, and why acknowledging it is the first step toward true freedom.
🔍 What Is Sin?
Sin isn’t defined by culture, opinion, or personal preference.
Sin is any action, thought, or attitude that goes against the divine laws and moral principles established by God.
God alone—holy, eternal, righteous—determines what is right and what is wrong.
You may choose not to believe in God, but disbelief doesn’t erase truth.
Sin exists whether we acknowledge it or not.
Sin’s Purpose
Sin is not random.
It is a strategic weapon of the enemy, designed to pull humanity away from the living God.
And here’s the key:
Sin only grows when we feed it.
👶 Born Into a Broken World
King David understood this deeply. In repentance he wrote:
Psalm 51:5 – “I was born to do wrong, a sinner before I left my mother’s womb.”
We don’t become sinners because we sin.
We sin because we are sinners.
We can convince ourselves we’re “good people,” but Scripture confronts that illusion:
Proverbs 30:12 – “Some people think they are pure, but they have done nothing to remove the filth of their sin.”
Goodness doesn’t erase sin.
Morality doesn’t cleanse sin.
Only God can do that.
🙋 Why I Say “I Am a Sinner”
I’ve been a believer for over 40 years. I surrendered my life to Christ at 13. I’m 54 now, and even after decades of walking with Jesus, I still fall short.
I still sin.
I still need grace.
I still need a Savior.
And so do you.
We cannot redeem ourselves.
We cannot save ourselves.
We cannot erase our own sin.
God knew this.
That’s why He sent His Son.
Romans 3:22–24
“God makes people right through their faith in Jesus Christ. He does this for all who believe in Christ. Everyone is the same. All have sinned and are not good enough to share God’s divine greatness. They are made right with God by his grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.”
🔥 Sin Is Everywhere Today
Look around.
Sin isn’t hiding—it’s celebrated.

- Alcohol
- Drugs
- Food
- Social media
- Entertainment
- Idolatry of self
Satan knows these things keep us far from God’s presence.
Sin is a prison chain.
Christ came to break every chain.
1 John 4:14–15
“We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world… Anyone who says, ‘I believe that Jesus is the Son of God,’ is a person who lives in God, and God lives in that person.”

🙌 My Story
I remember walking down that old church aisle 41 years ago.
I remember kneeling with the pastor.
I remember confessing my sins and crying out to God.
I realized I couldn’t save myself.
I realized Someone bigger than me was calling me.
I realized I was a sinner in need of grace.
And today, decades later, I still say it:
I am a sinner — saved by grace.
