THE ROAD MAP

How do you know how to get from point A to point B?

I’m part of a generation that actually knows how to read a map. Not a GPS. Not a phone. A real, fold‑out, paper road map. Today, we rely on computer‑generated directions to get us from point A to point B. But growing up, if you wanted to get somewhere, you pulled out a road map.

When my family went on vacation, that’s exactly what my dad did. He’d open his big atlas, trace the route with his finger, and map out our entire trip. Someone spent a large amount of time creating those maps—making sure the roads were accurate and the directions were clear—so that anyone who used them could get to their destination faithfully.

When I Got Lost Without a Map

I’ve been lost before. Years ago, I had to travel from Laurens, South Carolina to Knoxville, Tennessee for a Children’s Church conference. I had instructions. I had a map. But after hours of driving, I ended up in Charlotte, North Carolina—nowhere near Knoxville.

What happened?

I didn’t fully follow or understand my directions. I thought I could get there without a map. I soon found out I couldn’t. But once I followed the map, I made it to my destination.

We are lost without our road map.

And you already know my analogy: I’m talking about the Word of God—not the physical Bible, but the words in the Bible. God’s Word is His designed road map for all of mankind.

The Enemy Has Always Attacked God’s Word

Many try to extinguish the validity of God’s Word. Satan knows that to deceive the masses, he must distort or remove the truth that keeps us grounded. He has done this since the beginning.

Think back to Adam and Eve. He distorted God’s truth, and they fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

What Scripture Says About God’s Word

2 Timothy 3:16–17

“Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval. They equip God’s servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things.”

John 1:1–4

“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, andnd the Word was God.

He was already with God in the beginning.

Everything came into existence through him. Not one thing that exists was made without him.

He was the source of life,nd that life was the light for humanity.”

Psalm 119:160–163

Influential people have persecuted me for no reason, but it is only your words that fill my heart with terror.

“There is nothing but truth in your word, and all ofof your righteous regulations endure forever.

I find joy in your promise like someone who finds a priceless treasure.

I hate lying; I am disgusted with it. I love your teachings.”

How can we know or remember what God is saying unless it was written down? His Word is our road map to righteousness.

Common Lies About the Word of God

Here are some of the deceptions the enemy uses:

  • “The Bible was written by flawed men.”
  • “The Bible was written for back then, not now.”
  • “The Bible is not scientific.”
  • “The Bible doesn’t fit today’s society.”
  • “The Bible is just poetic—not real.”

These lies are not new. They are recycled.

Can We Prove the Bible Is God’s Road Map?

Yes—and the evidence is overwhelming.

  • History confirms it. Over 100 biblical characters are verified by outside historical sources.
  • Archaeology confirms it. Countless discoveries support events and details found in Scripture.
  • Manuscripts confirm it. Thousands upon thousands of ancient transcripts—many saying the same thing—have been found.
  • Prophecy confirms it. Over 300 prophecies (mostly about Jesus) have historically come to pass.

No other spiritual book on the planet can make these claims.

Where doubt enters is when corrupt people twist Scripture to fit their narrative. This has happened for centuries and has caused many to distrust God’s Word—not because the Word is flawed, but because people are.

Why People Don’t Want to Believe God’s Word

The answer is simple:

God’s Word leads to righteousness. Sin does not desire righteousness.

Hebrews 4:11–13

“So we must make every effort to enterer that place of rest. Then no one will be lost by following the example of those who refused to obey.

God’s word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God’s word judges a person’s thoughts and intentions.

No creature can hide from God. Everythings uncovered and exposed for him to see. We must answer to him.”

God’s Word is powerful. It pierces the heart.

And we cannot follow Jesus without reading His Word.

A Warning: Reading Without the Holy Spirit

Many read Scripture without a connection to the Holy Spirit. This can end disastrously. It leads to false interpretations, personal doctrines, and the countless denominations we see today.

The Holy Spirit is the One who illuminates the Word.

How We Should Use God’s Word

  • It is a guideline for righteous living.
  • Don’t study blindly—some translations lose meaning. Go back to the original language and context.
  • Scripture supports Scripture.
  • Listen to the Holy Spirit as you read.
  • Avoid creating personal doctrine.
  • The Holy Spirit is our decoder. Those who don’t follow Christ don’t have the decoder to understand the Word.

The Road Map Still Works

God has given us a road map. A clear one. A trustworthy one. A proven one. And if we follow it—if we let the Holy Spirit guide us—we will reach the destination God has prepared for us.
