Relevant Life

What does it mean to live a relevant Christian life? The meaning of relevant means being appropriate and making sense at the time.

As I have grown in the Lord, I have often been led to keep the faith simple and absent from religious ideologies which we see in many denominations today. I love just keeping things relevant. When I read God’s word, I try not to find hidden meanings or make it complicated. God’s word is simple to understand to the believer who has an open heart.

So how do you live a Relevant life? Again I like to keep things simple, so below is a simple list. Before we get to the list, let me throw some RELEVANT scriptures at you.

e-Sword Rom 12:2  Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

Col 3:5  Therefore, put to death whatever is worldly in you: your sexual sin, perversion, passion, lust, and greed (which is the same thing as worshiping wealth).

Col 3:6  It is because of these sins that God’s anger comes on those who refuse to obey him.

Col 3:7  You used to live that kind of sinful life.

Col 3:8  Also get rid of your anger, hot tempers, hatred, cursing, obscene language, and all similar sins.

Eph 4:30  Don’t give God’s Holy Spirit any reason to be upset with you. He has put his seal on you for the day you will be set free ⌞from the world of sin⌟.

Eph 4:31  Get rid of your bitterness, hot tempers, anger, loud quarreling, cursing, and hatred.

Eph 4:32  Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.

RELEVANT CHRISTIAN LIFE

1. Relationship with God is first and foremost. Nothing else matters. God has to be our center and our focus in all things. With our relationship with God, everything else crumbles and becomes difficult.
2. Treat other believers and the world around you with the kindness of the Lord. How we treat each other is vital to our relevant Christian life. If Christ is in us then it will be demonstrated in how we react to others. This does not mean that we over look sin or make excuses for it. It means we respond to others as Christ’s representative.
3. Church is not a building or a place you go. We are the church in its purest form. We are the Body of Christ for the world to see. We remind the world of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and of His return. Don’t become religious but BE the Church.
4. We are simple Christians nothing more and nothing less. Our outreach to the world comes out of our passion and love for our Savior. It does not come out of guilt or our desire to do works.
5. We are all called. Every believers is called and commissioned to serve the Lord in this crazy world. We evangelize in our daily lives. How we act at work, in the grocery store, at a football game and at basic daily human reactions tells the tale of who we are in Christ. We are not called to get a quota on how many we lead to Christ. We are called to be relevant to the world. Faith in Christ is not hard to understand just hard to walk daily due to our fleshly desires.

I gave you 5 simple ways to live a Relevant Christian Life. When we stand before the Lord; he will not ask us how many souls did we save and disciple or what prestigious church building did we go to. We will be judged by His complete word. Live in Him and let Him live in you then all will be complete.
