Living a Relevant Christian life

The Three D’s

Many believers and non believers struggle with overcoming addictions and sin in general. Fortunately for us, the living God gives us a way to overcome. There are three stages for all believers to find victory over sin and over life’s situations.

Let’s call the three stages the three D’s.

– Deliverance

– Discipline

– Dominion

Stage 1 Deliverance

When we surrender to the Lord; his spirit brings us to a place of deliverance. Deliverance means to be set free from bondage.

e-Sword Psa 34:17⌞Righteous people⌟ cry out. The LORD hears and rescues them from all their troubles.

The power of the Lord delivers us from troubles and the power of sin. Deliverance only lasts if we enter the next stage.

Stage 2 Discipline

Discipline in this instance means developing self-control. The closer we walk with Holy Spirit the more we become like Jesus. Discipline is important to maintain deliverance. Once discipline is a constant then we move to the next stage.

e-Sword 2Ti 1:7  God didn’t give us a cowardly spirit but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment.

Stage 3 Dominion

We have been given authority through Jesus to overcome all things. His dominion resides in us and Holy Spirit empowers us to walk in it.

e-Sword

Luk 10:18  Jesus said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning.

Luk 10:19  I have given you the authority to trample snakes and scorpions and to destroy the enemy’s power. Nothing will hurt you.

Luk 10:20  However, don’t be happy that evil spirits obey you. Be happy that your names are written in heaven.”

e-Sword

Rom 6:12  Therefore, never let sin rule your physical body so that you obey its desires.

Rom 6:13  Never offer any part of your body to sin’s power. No part of your body should ever be used to do any ungodly thing. Instead, offer yourselves to God as people who have come back from death and are now alive. Offer all the parts of your body to God. Use them to do everything that God approves of.

Rom 6:14  Certainly, sin shouldn’t have power over you because you’re not controlled by God’s laws, but by God’s favor.

In order to stay set free from sin follow the three D’s.
