I don’t just believe in God anymore.

I am guessing that you started reading this blog because of the title. You probably are asking many questions in your head right now. Does he truly not believe in God any more? What has happened to his faith? Why has he left God?

Well don’t worry I have not gone crazy! In transitive terms the difference between know and believe are quit different. The verb ” know” is to understand or have become strongly aware of an object/subject. To know means you have become cognizant of something. The verb ” believe” means to have faith or belief in a greater truth or some higher power.

I believe scripture is clear that our belief in Christ can and should move into the knowing of Christ. Belief is the acceptance of the unseen. Knowing is the understanding of the unseen and the communion with the one who knows us.

Gal 4:8  When you didn’t know God, you were slaves to things which are really not gods at all.

Gal 4:9  But now you know God, or rather, God knows you. So how can you turn back again to the powerless and bankrupt principles of this world? Why do you want to become their slaves all over again?

Paul gave a clear message to the Galatians. The Galatians had an experience with the Holy Spirit. Revival had been witnessed in their midst. They moved from just believing in the Lord but knowing Him and being known by him. However, some in the church wanted to focus on religious rituals and alter the word of God to fit their narrative. Paul was pleading with them to not go backwards. Knowing God and being Known by Him was the highest form of faith they could have.

Believing in God is the first step in obtaining His presence in your life. Knowing God and being Known by God is the ultimate declaration of our faith. We no longer just believe; we know without a doubt that God is God. We have a tangible relationship with Him and He has one with us. Knowing God is obtaining a deep awareness of Him.

1Co 8:2  Those who think they know something still have a lot to learn.

1Co 8:3  But if they love God, they are known by God

Joh 10:14  “I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep as the Father knows me. My sheep know me as I know the Father.

Jer 1:4  The LORD spoke his word to me,

Jer 1:5  “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”

Many Christians believe in God but few actually know Him. My wife and I have been married for 32 years. We know each other pretty well. We know our likes and dislikes. We understand each other at a very deep level. When we first started to date; I believed she liked me and was falling in love with me. As our relationship began to grow and we sealed our relationship; I began to know that she loved me. It was the moment of knowing her and her knowing me is when our relationship began to take off. It is still running strong today!

It is the same with our relationship with the Holy God. We start off in believing in the mighty God. As we begin to grow in our relationship with Him. Our belief moves to knowing. He deeply knows you and you deeply know Him. It is that simple.

What occurs through Knowing God and being known by Him.

  1. A closer relationship.
  2. A greater awareness of the divinty of God.
  3. Unseen faith becomes daily reality.
  4. True unity with the Lord.
  5. Clarity of righteous thought
  6. Unshackable faith and hope.
  7. Deep communion with the Holy God
  8. True empowerment comes from Holy Spirit.

I promise you I have not given up on my faith. I have just decided to move into something greater. I enjoy the Lord knowing me and I enjoy knowing Him.
