Living a Relevant Christian life

Overcoming a Lukewarm Life

When I became a Christian at age 13; I had a zeal for God that was like a raging fire. All I wanted to do is know God more and tell the world about him. I remember during this time how the “mature” Christians kept telling me that the zeal will one day die down. I thought to myself, “ I sure hope not, I don’t want to be like these dead people.”

I realized later in life that these believers were simply jealous of my zeal because theirs had died down. They had become Luke warm and old in their faith. I have been a Christian for over 37 years. I believe I understand how easy it is to become a Lukewarm Christian. As we get older in the Lord; it is easier to fall into a rut. This is how many Christians turn from a relationship with the Lord to living a religious lifestyle. This is also how godly doctrine get replaced by human dogma.

Rev 3:14  “To the messenger of the church in Laodicea, write: The amen, the witness who is faithful and true, the source of God’s creation, says:

Rev 3:15  I know what you have done, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot.

Rev 3:16 But since you are lukewarm and not hot or cold, I’m going to spit you out of my mouth.

The church of Laodicea started with a zeal for Christ but once the heaviness of the world took root; their zeal became dull and Lukewarm. Today, Christians fall into this trap. It is easy to get caught up in the day to day life tasks. Satan desires to distract us from following the Lord fully. If he can’t get us to completely deny the Lord; he rather get us to a place of a Lukewarm lifestyle. A dead and religious believer has no power and no purpose being followed.
