Relevant Life

Looking at life differently.

I recently just had a battle with Covid 19. I thought I was truly going to die and say good by to my family. I am in recovery mode right now but it has been a tough few weeks. Coming this close to death, really makes one look at life with a different perspective.

e-Sword Ecc 8:8  No one has the power to prevent the spirit of life from leaving. No one has control over the day of his own death. There is no way to avoid the war against death. Wickedness will not save wicked people from dying.

One thing is for certain is that no one has true power over life and death. One thing that is certain is that Life is for a season and death will catch up to everyone. No person, rich or poor, can control the onslaught of physical death. Our only hopes lies in eternal life with Christ. That is why eternal life thought processes are so important. We should never focus so much on physical life that we lose sight of eternity.

With life being short and death being in constant pursuit, my thoughts on life are changing drastically. Is it important to move up the corporate ladder? Is it important to get paid 6 firgures but have not time to do anything else? Do we really need big houses, fancy cars, nice things, mounds of debt, and the overall American dream.

I am not saying having things or having a good job is wrong. However, when those things keep you from keepin your eye on the true prize. The true prize is eternity with a living God who cares for us. Eternity has been placed in the minds of every human being.

Ecc 3:11  It is beautiful how God has done everything at the right time. He has put a sense of eternity in people’s minds. Yet, mortals still can’t grasp what God is doing from the beginning to the end of time.

One thing is for certain. If we are followers of Christ, we have eternal life given to us by our Lord.

e-Sword Joh 6:47  I can guarantee this truth: Every believer has eternal life.

Our pursuit, our main focus, should be on eternity not life which is like a vapor of smoke. What is God’s design for us who are given eternity.

Thinking on Eternity:

1. Lay up treasure in heaven.
2. Be in the world but not of the world.
3. Have things in this world but don’t let things have you.
4. Be mission minded at all times. All believers are missionaries to the world.
5. Make decisions in life with eternity in mind.

For me, I will be making some life changes in the coming days. I turn 50 this year and realize how vulnerable life truly is. My coming decisions will be with an eternity mindset.
