Prodigal’s Return

I kneel down in the mud puddle adding to my filthiness.

Trembling and cold, I call out to your holiness.

The stench of my dirt and grime escapes through the wind.

Flakes of guilt and disgust reveal the nakedness of my sin.

Bleeding from opened wounds, my body waddles through the puddle.

Sweat drips from the brow and gathers in a huddle.

Questions cloud my mind and give way to fear.

Will He embrace me and draw near?

In the distance, the blur of your form stands firm.

My heart beats faster desiring to be affirmed.

I give way to my weakness and waddle through the mud.

Only a whishper is released, ” Come save me from my crud.”

Your blurred formed gives way to tangibility.

Your pierced hands reach for my humility.

Slowly I am raised from my familiar form.

Brought up to your chest to make warm.

You embrace with tighten arms and healing calm.

Your tears dance down your cheeks with hopeful balm.

Your voice commands forgiveness and declares grace.

My head slowly raises upward to see your holy face.

You smile with exceptance and with deep concern.

Happines pursues because of your Prodigal’s return.
