God Speaks today?

Does God still speak today? I remember watching an Episode of Little House of the Prairie where Charles goes up to the mountain to ask God for healing for his adopted son. He meets a man, aka Angel, and has an experience with God on top of that mountain. I understand that it was just a TV show, one that would not make it in today’s world, but the message of the episode was that God is real and still talks and listens to his people. I spent a lot of my childhood in the woods talking to God. I built make shift altars and would often times just kneel at the altar of the Lord and pray.

Prayer is certainly the key to hearing God speak to us today. Some may call this a useless action, but prayer has scientifically been linked to a better mental status to those who perform it.

Marilyn Schlitz, Ph.D., and lecturer at Harvard, says, “It\’s clear from the correlational studies within the epidemiology data that positive relationships exist between religious and spiritual practice and health outcomes on a variety of different conditions.” Moreover, she says that in a study and confirmation study on intercessory prayer, “the prayer groups had statistically significant improvements in outcome, suggesting that the intervention has clinical relevance.”

If we are talking to someone; it stands to reason that the person responds in kind. God is not any different. He does speak to us today. The question is how does God speak to His people today?  It is not like the mountain experience that Charles Ingalls had correct?

How does God Speak to us today?

1.  Inner Audible Voice ( David heard God speak inner audibly. I Samuel 30:7-8)

2. Audible voice ( God spoke audibly to Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:9-10)

3. Angelic Appearance ( God used a whole host of angels to speak to the shepherds for Jesus\’ birth. Matthew 1:18-25)

4. The Bible ( God gave us a road map to follow and use. It keeps us on the right track. Psalm 119:11, 15-16, 33-36, 105-106)

5. Prophesy (God uses others to speak at times make sure the word is confirmed through the Word of God. Acts 9:10-19)

6. Visions and Dreams ( God uses visions or dreams to speak to us. I have found that the visions and the dreams are very clear and typically don\’t need some human interpretation. Joel 2:28-29)

God still talks today to his People. Do we listen is the key?
