Relevant Life

The book of Hebrews is full of information on how a believer should live. The last chapter , ch.13, gives the believer a list of sacrificial things which are pleasing to the Lord. Let’s Look at a few. Hebrews 13: 1-19

Sacrificial Life examples.

1. Love each other: The writer reiterates what Jesus spoke many times which was to love each other unconditionally.

2. Be Hospitable to each other and even to those we don’t know. Scripture declares that showing hospitality could sometimes be shown to angels unaware.

3. Remember believers who are in prison or who are mistreated. Jesus declared that we would see persecution in the world. It is important that we lift each other up in prayer and support each other. There are places in the world where believers are suffering more than others. It is important that those who are not suffering lift up those who are.

4. Keep marriage honorable. Marriage represents how Christ loves the church. It is vital that we fight for the sanctity of marriage. Today we see where many are fighting against marriage.

5. Don’t love money or fall into greed. Greed  is affecting our world today especially places in the world with the Western influence. Greed creates a world of entitlement and the lack of empathy for others.

6. Totally trust in the Lord. He is our helper and provider. When we trust in the Lord, our faith becomes reality.

7. Honor the leaders that the Lord gives us. It is clear what type of leaders we should honor and pattern our lives after. They must be servant leaders and leaders who are like Jesus.

8. Know and follow the Truth that Jesus is absolute in our faith. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

9. Don’t get carried away with false teachings or feel good messages. Many believers have settled for messages like these and never challenge the status quo.

10. Worship is sacrificial. Worship the Lord even when you don’t feel like it. Give him praise even when your praise seems to be empty inside. When we worship and praise him regardless of our situations; Holy Spirit comes and meets us right where we are at.

11. Give to others and be kind to your neighbor. Actions like these are sacrifices to the Lord as well and a sign of worship.

12. Pray for your leaders and for the advancement of God’s kingdom in the world.

These are some simple truths taken from one simple passage of scripture. The key is to live a sacrificial life before the Lord.
