Living a Relevant Christian life

How to change the world

Jesus has called us, as true believers, to spread the Gospel of truth to everyone in the world. It is vital that Christians stay on fire for God and share that fire with others.

How can we change the world? How can we change our current circumstances? How can we have an awaken that affects the culture in society?

What if we prayed for 100 years straight? There were a group of believers from Bohemia and Moravia who lived in the 1700’s. They are called the Moravians which is an eastern Christian denomination who have been around for over 500 years. They were and are devote believers who desire to follow the word of God. In 1727, the Moravians started an around-the-clock prayer watch. They continued this process for 100 years. By 1791, the small community of the Moravians had sent over 300 missionaries around the world to preach the gospel of Christ. This small community of believers change their world just by praying and seeking the face of God. They had 24/7 prayer vigils for 100 years straight. It is hard to get Christians now days to pray just for 10 minutes a week. We are called to be change makers or world changers! I quote these simple passages of scripture.

Matthew 28:16-20 GW  The eleven disciples went to the mountain in Galilee where Jesus had told them to go.  (17)  When they saw him, they bowed down in worship, though some had doubts.  (18)  When Jesus came near, he spoke to them. He said, \”All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  (19)  So wherever you go, make disciples of all nations: Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  (20)  Teach them to do everything I have commanded you. \”And remember that I am always with you until the end of time.\”

Mark 16:14-20 GW  Still later Jesus appeared to the eleven apostles while they were eating. He put them to shame for their unbelief and because they were too stubborn to believe those who had seen him alive.  (15)  Then Jesus said to them, \”So wherever you go in the world, tell everyone the Good News.  (16)  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  (17)  \”These are the miraculous signs that will accompany believers: They will use the power and authority of my name to force demons out of people. They will speak new languages.  (18)  They will pick up snakes, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them. They will place their hands on the sick and cure them.\”  (19)  After talking with the apostles, the Lord was taken to heaven, where God gave him the highest position.  (20)  The disciples spread the Good News everywhere. The Lord worked with them. He confirmed his word by the miraculous signs that accompanied it.

God is still operating in the world today because believers chose to keep the Gospel of truth alive. They follow and obey Jesus’ words to “ Go into all the World.”

What about today? Are Christians changing the world today?

1. China:  Christians in China are growing in a miraculous rate and despite the governments attempts to stop the unregistered church. In the 1970’s there were only 3 million Christians in China now there are over 130 Million. ( taken from https://www.christiantoday.com/article/church.in.china.experiencing.tremendous.growth/26420.htm) 130 million could be much higher due to the rapid church growth taking place since the 1990’s.

2. India: I have been to India several times. I have seen first hand on how God is doing amazing things through believers. I have witnessed the poor of the poor Christians fast and pray for days to see God move mightily in their village. The Christian women of India are praying in revival every single day.

3. Iran: The church of Iran has grown over 3000% since the 1990’s. Many are turning to the faith in this Islamic country which continues to stay under sanctions from the rest of the world. Believers are not afraid to share their faith. ( Taken from https://stream.org/revival-in-iran-you-can-see-what-the-holy-spirit-is-doing/)

Many Christians around the world live in countries that persecute Christians horrendously. It is amazing to note that the areas with the highest persecution see more and more people come to Christ. Revival does not have to be something of the past. The Holy Spirit never sleeps or slumbers. He is still operating in the world today. All we have to do is be obedient and we will change the world!
