Relevant Life

Zephaniah 3:17  The LORD your God is with you. He is a hero who saves you. He happily rejoices over you, renews you with his love, and celebrates over you with shouts of joy.

The Hebrew word for hero in this verse is Gibbor which means warrior , giant man, valiant man or strong man. In a word, God is the hero for all mankind if we want him to be. He is the hero that saves and helps us in time of need. He is the true selfless hero which has sacrificed all for all.

I love the part of the scripture where our Lord is happy and rejoices over us. God is not looking down on us and shaking his head to our demise. He loves us passionately without limits. When he rejoices over us it is transferred to our spirit.  Maybe Nehemiah experienced this truth when he stated in Nehemiah 8:10 the following.

Nehemiah 8:10  Then he said to them, Go eat the fat and drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared. For this day is holy to our LORD. And do not be sorry, for the joy of Jehovah is your strength.

The Joy of our Lord and from our Lord becomes our strength. It is beneficial when He rejoices over us in so many ways. His joy gives us strength and his love renews us. It redeems us in his presence and connects us with him. His undeserving love brings us to a place of peace and restores us completely. Finally the Lord celebrates over us with shouts of joy. Some translations states that He sings loudly over us. What does it sound like to hear God sing over us? It has to be amazing. When God sings and shouts over us all chains , all bondages, and all obstacles have to melt away like butter  under a lamp. How could any of us be the same once His voice is hurled over us? I stand amazed!!! What about you? Do you realize that God is singing and shouting over you right now? The Hebrew word for singing in this instances in Rinnah which means to cry over, shout  over, or sing over. I don’t think we understand the full depth of God’s love. Does God sing songs over us based off of different seasons for our life? Surely he knows when to sing a love ballad over us and when to shout over us with Joy to help bring us through tough circumstances. This one scripture is so powerful and whimsical at the same time.

Be encouraged with this truth today. Talk to God and sing to his song over you.
