Proverbs 5:1-8 My son, pay attention to my wisdom. Open your ears to my understanding (2) so that you may act with foresight and speak with insight. (3) The lips of an adulterous woman drip with honey. Her kiss is smoother than oil, (4) but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, as sharp as a two-edged sword. (5) Her feet descend to death. Her steps lead straight to hell. (6) She doesn’t even think about the path of life. Her steps wander, and she doesn’t realize it. (7) But now, sons, listen to me, and do not turn away from what I say to you. (8) Stay far away from her. Do not even go near her door.
Sin is like a seductive woman. She ( sin) desires to sit next to people dressed in her see through white dress waiting for her seductive actions to grab a hold of willing hearts. Her lips taste like honey at first and her kiss brings pleasure for a short moment. However, once her kiss releases her salvia in the other mouth. The evil juices flow down to the belly and become bitter. The stomach is cut to shreds and causes great pain. She leaves her victim to die and frozen without hope. The willing heart vomits pints of blood filled with shame. The shame paralyzes her victim and gives the appearance of no way out.
The power of a seductive woman ( Sin) can be intoxicating. Unfortunately, the by product of her actions is hopelessness and shame. It is the hopelessness and shame that the enemy uses to keep millions submitted to his will. How could God ever love you again? Your sin is too great. He will never forgive you and you can never return to him. The enemy traps you in a cave with the feeling of no way out.
The good news is that Jesus is on the other side of the cave wall waiting for you to call out to him. He is not standing over you and judging you for your sin. He is standing on the other side to meet you right where you are at in the midst of your sin. He wants to show you that there is hope and there is a way out. He never stops pursuing you and he is never far away. The moment you cry out for his deliverance; he will burst through the cave wall and rescue you. His love covers all shame and guilt. It heals all brokenness and pain. It reveals the true image of who you are and who God has made you to be.
Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is with me. He has anointed me to tell the Good News to the poor. He has sent me to announce forgiveness to the prisoners of sin and the restoring of sight to the blind, to forgive those who have been shattered by sin,
