Living a Relevant Christian life

The air we breathe is a a unique mixture that in turn sustains our life here on Planet Earth. Without it we would not be alive.  We don’t see the air we breathe but the results of its reaction with living things is evident. Even the fish in the sea need oxygen to survive.

There is no other planet in our solar system which harbors this same mixture of life giving air. It is rare and the right mixture for life cannot be explained by evolutionary theories. The word of God tells us who created the air we breathe.

Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.  Genesis 1: 11-13

We know that the created vegetation produced oxygen for humans and all living creatures survival. It is interesting that God created this life giving substance on the third day. It was on the Third Day that Jesus performed has first miracle. It was the Third Day that he arose again from the grave which gave hope for all mankind.  Oxygen sustains life.

However, there is something greater than Oxygen that sustains our spiritual life.  There is someone who brings hope and peace to the weary heart.  His name is Jesus. Our relationship with Christ has to be deep and to the level of survival. As the human body desperately needs oxygen; believers desperately need Jesus. It is not just about relationship at this point anymore. It is about sustaining life. Our life needs him like oxygen.  Our relationship moves from casual to inhabitant. We need Him to the depth of our core. Nothing can suffice.

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Genesis 2:7

We are not truly living unless we Know Him and are known by Him. Jesus came to connect us back again to the Life Giver. It is important that our acknowledgement of God moves beyond just relational to total dependence.
